Comeback Medvedev Wins Maiden Championship in Over Two Years

Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a former world number one, has experienced a torrid season, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in specific - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the past month - peaking in a closely contested competitive victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first title since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.

Victory also indicates he has secured 21 titles at twenty-one various competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to secure a title is particularly special," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, including in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and recurring reactions on the playing surface had caused some to question if his capacity to play at the highest level was finished.

Yet the player has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and compete aggressively, supported by an improved serve.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players traded break points in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his initial professional championship, seized the initiative to create a third set.

Moutet rescued 4 initial break points in a close final set before the Russian won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he earned victory with a point at the net, with his opponent failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
